The Golden Rule: Be all ears!
Another very common mistake from networking attendees is to try to categorise people, and focus only on those who fit their ideal customer profile, cutting short the conversation and neglecting the other people who don’t match - without even paying attention to who they are, what they really do, and maybe who they might know.
Keep in mind that your network is your greatest asset, and behind every person is a network.
Take the time to talk to everyone, to explain your business and be all ears. This is the best way to create quality relationships, and in the long term, to exchange as many contacts as possible and generate as much business as possible.
Alone we go faster, together we go further.
